Web design in Glasgow

Web design in Glasgow, judged in about four seconds.

Someone searching for what you do in Glasgow is usually on a phone, often outdoors, and rarely patient. They will give your site a few seconds to load and a few more to answer one question: can this lot do the job, and how do I ring them. Everything else on the page is decoration.

Bar chart from our study of 504 UK agencies: only about one in five publish any price at all

Real data, not an illustration: how many of 504 UK agencies publish a price, from our study, August 2026. Ours is on this page.

How people actually find you

“Near me” is a real search, and it is most of them.

A large share of local searching in Glasgow never names a place at all. People type what they want and the word near me, and Google works out the rest from where the phone is standing.

That matters for your website because those searches are answered by two things at once: a map listing, and a page that Google is confident belongs to a business in that part of the city.A site that never names a single Glasgow place, and never mentions the work you do in plain words, gives it nothing to go on.

So the site is not a brochure sitting to one side of your Google listing. It is the thing that backs the listing up, and the thing that has to convert the person once they tap through.

UK searches, July 2026, pulled from Google’s keyword data on 28 August 2026. The near me forms outweigh the city form about seven to one, and they are answered by where the searcher stands.

The price question, head on

We checked what 504 agencies charge. Most would not say.

In August 2026 we checked 504 UK agency websites for a published price. About one in five publish any number at all. Among the ones that sell websites on a monthly plan, the median entry price is £325 a month, every month, for as long as you keep the site. The study is published, method and all, so you can check rather than trust.

Ours is simpler and it is in the open: from £500, once, and you own everything. The optional £75 a month is not for the website, it is for the monthly measurement and the managed listing, and you can run the site without it. The cheap builds in the Glasgow adverts are real and some people should take them; the difference you are paying for here is that the site is built to be found, wired to your listing, and yours outright on a price you saw before you rang.

What you get

Fast, findable, and yours.

  • It loads before they give up

Built light on purpose. Speed keeps the visitor and it is a ranking factor in its own right, which makes it one of the few things that helps twice.

  • Your number under their thumb

Tap to call, high on every page. Somebody standing outside in the rain will not fill in a contact form and wait for an email.

  • The parts of Glasgow you cover, named

Written the way a person would say them, not a list of postcodes in the footer. It answers the first question every customer has and gives Google something honest to read.

  • Wired to your Google listing

Same business name, same number, same address, everywhere. When those disagree Google trusts all of them slightly less, and it is a silent problem.

  • Readable one-handed on mobile data

Big text, big buttons, built for the phone first rather than shrunk down from a desktop design at the end.

  • Owned by you

Your domain, your site, your code. Portable to any other builder, any time, without an argument or a hostage negotiation.

Questions

Worth asking.

Why are you not the cheapest web designer in Glasgow?

Because I am not selling the same thing. You can get a website in Glasgow for a couple of hundred pounds and plenty of people should take that deal. What that price does not include is anyone checking whether customers can actually find you afterwards, which is the part that decides whether the site earns anything. If all you need is a tidy site and you already get found, buy the cheap one with my blessing.

Do I need a web designer or a web developer?

For a local business, almost always a designer who understands search, not a developer. A small business site is not a technical problem. The hard parts are what it says, how quickly it loads, and whether it is wired properly to your Google listing. Anyone quoting you for a custom build with a database is probably solving a problem you do not have.

What does a website cost?

From £500 to build, and £75 a month if you want the Google listing managed and the reporting on top, which is optional. Where it lands above the floor depends on how many pages you genuinely need, and both numbers are in writing before I start. The monthly side can be stopped with thirty days' notice.

Do I own the site?

Yes, all of it. The domain is registered in your name, the site is yours, and you can take it to another builder whenever you like. I hold access, never ownership. I would rather you were able to leave easily and chose not to.

Do I actually need a new website?

Quite possibly not. If yours loads quickly, says which parts of Glasgow you cover and puts your number where a thumb can reach it, keep it. A lot of the damage is in the Google listing rather than the website, and that is cheaper to fix. I will tell you if you do not need me.

Where you stand

Find out where you actually rank.

Send me your business name and the areas you cover, and I’ll check where you’re showing up across your area and where you’re not. There’s no charge for it, and if you’re already doing well I’ll tell you that.
