SEO for roofers
When a roof goes, nobody scrolls to page two.
Roofing work arrives urgent and anxious. A tile comes off in a gale, water is coming in, and somebody picks whoever appears first and looks trustworthy. If you are not in that handful, the job was never yours to lose.

What’s different about roofing
Urgent, weather-driven, and heavy on trust.
Roofing searches behave unlike most trades. They spike hard after bad weather, they are usually urgent, and the person searching is often worried about being ripped off before they have even spoken to anybody.
That combination means two things. Being visible matters most on the days you cannot influence, so the groundwork has to already be done. And looking legitimate does as much work as ranking does, because your trade carries a reputation problem that has nothing to do with you.
What I’d do
The roofing-specific bits.
The map, before anything changes
Forty-nine searches across your patch for the work you actually want, not just your business name.
Roofer, not “construction company”
The primary category decides an enormous amount. Plenty of roofers are filed under something vaguer and lose before they start.
Emergency and repair work, spelled out
“Emergency roof repair” and “new roof” are different searches by different people. Your listing and site should answer both.
Proof you are real
Real photos of real jobs, a real address, and reviews earned properly. In roofing this is not vanity, it is the deciding factor.
A number a wet thumb can hit
Somebody with water coming through a ceiling will not fill in a contact form. Tap to call, high on the page, every page.
The same map, sixty days on
Same grid, same centre, same words. If it has not moved, you should walk, and I would rather you did.
Being straight with you
Storms are not a strategy.
I can’t make the weather, and I can’t make you closer.
A bad winter lifts every roofer and a mild one flattens the lot. On top of that, more than half of the map results is decided by how far the searcher is from your door, which nobody can change. What I can do is make sure that when the calls are being made, you are in the running across as much of your area as is genuinely possible, and prove whether that changed with the same map twice.
Questions
Worth asking.
Roofing is seasonal. Does that change anything?
It changes the timing, not the work. Storm weeks bring a spike of urgent searches and that is exactly when being visible pays. The problem is you cannot build visibility during the storm, it has to already be there. Which is an argument for doing the boring work in a quiet month.
Most of my work is word of mouth. Why bother?
Word of mouth still ends in a search. People are given your name, then look you up to check you are real before they ring. A thin or missing Google listing loses jobs you had already won. That is worth fixing whether or not you ever want a stranger to find you.
There are cowboys in my area undercutting everyone. Does ranking help?
It helps you get seen, it does not settle who they choose. What tends to do that is reviews and a listing that looks like a real business with a real address and real photos. Roofing has a reputation problem that is not your fault, and looking legitimate is a bigger lever in your trade than in most.
Do you cover my area?
I am in Paisley and work across the west of Scotland in person. Further afield I can do the same work remotely, but I would rather tell you that up front than pretend distance makes no difference. Ring me and I will tell you straight whether it is worth your money.

Where you stand
Find out where you actually rank.
Send me your business name and the areas you cover, and I’ll check where you’re showing up across your patch and where you’re not. There’s no charge for it, and if you’re already doing well I’ll tell you that.
