SEO for cleaning companies

SEO for cleaning companies: found once, paid weekly.

Cleaning has no storm season and no spring rush. Even its quietest month carries more than half the demand of its busiest, and that steadiness is the whole opportunity: the weekly customer you become visible to this month pays you every week for years. Visibility in this trade does not spike. It compounds.

Bar chart of monthly UK searches for cleaners near me, holding between 9,900 and 18,100 every month of the year

Real data, not an illustration: a year of UK searches for cleaners, pulled 29 August 2026. No storm, no spring, just every month again.

What’s different about cleaning

Three customers who have nothing in common.

The weekly domestic customer is choosing somebody to let into their house every Tuesday for the next three years. The end of tenancy searcher has a deadline, a deposit on the line, and no loyalty to anybody. The office contract is bought by a facilities manager off a shortlist and barely touches Google’s map at all.

Three customers, three completely different searches, three different pages worth of answers. Most cleaning company websites serve all three the same paragraph, and it wins none of them.

The steadiest demand on this site

No season. Just every month, again.

Here is July 2026, UK-wide. Unlike roofing and landscaping, these numbers hold most of their level right through the winter.

The searchSearches in July
cleaners near me14,800
carpet cleaning near me14,800
end of tenancy cleaning14,800
domestic cleaners near me5,400
gutter cleaning near me5,400
commercial cleaning1,900

Google keyword data for the United Kingdom, July 2026, pulled 29 August 2026.

The steadiness is the finding. December, the quietest month for “cleaners near me”, still carries two thirds of a typical month’s searches, where landscaping drops to a fifth of its peak. There is no storm to wait for and no spring to miss: whoever is visible collects every month, and because the domestic customer is recurring, each month’s visibility stacks on the last. The one seasonal wrinkle worth knowing: gutter cleaning triples in the autumn, which is a tidy add-on line for the firms equipped for it.

And note the small number at the bottom: commercial cleaning barely registers next to the domestic terms, becausecontracts are not won in the map pack. If your revenue is contracts, the honest advice is further down this page, in the questions.

What I’d do

The cleaning-specific bits.

  • The map, before anything changes

Forty-nine real searches across the area you cover, showing where you appear and where you vanish. How the measurement works is on the SEO for tradesmen page.

  • End of tenancy, given its own page

The biggest search in the trade, made by somebody with a date and a deposit. Price and availability on the page, because that searcher compares fast and books faster.

  • Reviews, the whole ballgame

Your customer is choosing who gets a key to their house. When we measured 24,924 map rankings, businesses past 150 reviews held top three spots over twice as far away as those under ten. In cleaning, the review is also the reassurance.

  • The right category, checked

House cleaning service, carpet cleaner and commercial cleaning are different Google categories. Which one is primary quietly decides which searches you are even eligible for.

  • The gutter season, caught

Autumn triples the gutter searches. If you do it, the page and the listing should say so before September, not during it.

  • The same map, sixty days on

Same grid, same words, so you can judge it rather than take my word. In a flat-demand trade the comparison is clean: nothing seasonal to explain away, just where you were and where you are.

Questions

Worth asking.

All my customers come from Facebook groups. Why would I need this?

The recommendations in the group still end in a search. Somebody is given your name, looks you up to check you are real, and finds either a proper listing with reviews or nothing. And the group only reaches people who happen to be in it: fifteen thousand people a month search cleaners near me with their card effectively in their hand, and no post reaches them. The two are not rivals, but only one of them works while you are asleep.

Nobody knows our company name. Does that matter?

For this, not at all. Near me searches are won by proximity, category and reviews, not by fame. A two-person firm with a correct listing and forty honest reviews regularly out-ranks a national brand in its own street. That is what makes local search the one channel where being small is not a disadvantage.

Most of our money is office contracts. Will this help?

Probably not enough to be worth paying for, and I would rather say that now. Contract cleaning is bought through shortlists, referrals and procurement, not the map pack, and the search numbers agree: the commercial cleaning terms are a fraction of the domestic ones. Your listing should still look legitimate for the moment a facilities manager checks you out, but do not buy a monthly rank map for a customer who does not use the map.

Is end of tenancy work worth chasing?

It is the single biggest cleaning search there is, level with cleaners near me at nearly fifteen thousand a month, and the person searching has a deadline and a deposit on the line. They compare price and availability fast, which is why it deserves its own page with both on it, rather than a line in a services list. It is also the doorway job: clean well once at a stressful moment and the review you earn does years of work.

Do you cover my area?

I am in Paisley and work across the west of Scotland in person. Further afield the same work happens remotely. Tell me where you are and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth your money.

Where you stand

Find out where you actually rank.

Send me your business name and the areas you cover, and I’ll check where you’re showing up across your area and where you’re not. There’s no charge for it, and if you’re already doing well I’ll tell you that.
